as a licensee i know that if a 15 year old is eating a meal and an adult orders and pays for it the child from the age of 4 can have beer wine port or perry. In fact a 16 year old can order a drink for a 4 year old as long as there is a person of over 18 who is supervising and paying. under the age of 14 years old you cannot enter the area known as the bar.
However the licensee reserves the right not to serve anyone if they don't want to.

I think it is true in the UK at least. But ultimately I suppose the licensee can refuse right to serve anyone of any age if he is a freeholder and owns the place outright.

False. A child under 18 cannot be served alcohol, under the law. The licensee has no choice in the matter.

In England, it's a little known fact, that a child from the age of 6 upwards can drink alcohol, as long as it's with a meal

IF YOU ARE REFERRING TO THE UK:
The age at which people are legally allowed to purchase alcoholic beverages is generally 18 years of age (16 and 17 year olds can buy beer, wine, and cider in restaurants and separate eating areas of pubs).

I think that in some states, a parent can serve their own child a small amount of 3.5% beer, but that is about the exstent of it. Serving alcahol to minors will get you and them in a lot of trouble, expecially if some one ends up hurt.

The only way you get alcohol at a meal is if it's in the meal and then the alcohol is cooked out of it so all you get is the flavor of whatever was put in it.

If you are eating out, then no. It's illegal to serve alcohol to a minor and if you are caught giving alcohol to a minor, it's a serious offense. Eating at your house, it's ok if the parents give their child a small sip of wine or such.
