Jigsaw is not technically a "killer". He's a person who has a purpose to teach people lessons, people who cheat, steal or do harm to others or their selves in one way or another and turn the tables on them in an extreme way. He puts them in these situations not to kill them but to test them and they have a chance to escape. He wants them to come out alive. They have to rely on their intelligence and strength to survive. Saw 2, Jigsaw reveals himself to be John Kramer, a terminal cancer patient who attempted suicide by driving his car off a cliff. However, Kramer survived, despite severe injuries. He became aware how people did not appreciate their lives unless they knew it could imminently end. Henceforth, he resolved to test the human ability to endure great suffering and show determination, in order to demonstrate that they value the life they have.

I like to watch horror movies or scary movies. Saw 3 is coming out on Halloween weekend, so it just fits with the holiday. I think the movie is demented in the way that they torture peopl, but i still want to see it & would pay to see it.

Yeah I don't get is either. I love horror movies but I just found it morbid and depressing to think that someone would imagine that stuff let alone watch it, or worse watch all three. I didn't know what it was going to be when I saw it and I really wish I hadn't seen it. I like watching ghost story type movies or monsters or silly slasher movies even but people being savagely torchered just seem sick, not entertaining.

I think the people that love the "Saw" movies, love the story that is being told. Most of the characters in the movie being tortured are getting just what they deserve and knowing it's all Hollywood magic makes it very easy to sit through... if you like movies like that.

Because so many horror movies are the same....and totally predictible. The Saw movies don't have those candy coated endings and have original plots.

because deep down, many people have a cruel streak that they NEVER act on.
many people have the desire to harm, hurt, kill, but everything they've been taught tells them not to, so they don't.
and witnessing the torture is not only pleasing in that regard, but also it creates tension and fear, which is the whole reason people see scary movies in the first place.

I like to see how bad the people want to play the game. Do you want to live or die? Then how well the Doctor sets up the stunt and how well it worked or did not work. Only two lived to appreciate life.
