I had a pap smear done about three weeks ago and I also got tested for STD's.Everything came out fine. I had an infection and the gyno prescribed me Diflucan which didnt do absolutely nothing. Then I did a 3 day treatment and I still have an infection. Could I have something else? I had an abnormal pap smear 4 yrs ago and they had to freeze me down there to get rid of all the cancerous cells. But, with these new commerical "if your pap smear is normal you dont need to worry right? yes....no you should get test for the HPV test". Do you get any symptoms when you have cancerous cells?? like discharge?? I am really worried i schedule an appointment again with my gyno to see whats going on.

Yes, it's good that you made another appointment. Tell your doctor that you need something else for the infection. You may have been improperly diagnosed with a yeast infection when you may actually have bacterial vaginosis. For that you would get Metrogel, which is like the cream treatments for yeast infection. They may also prescribe Flagil (sp?), which is an antibiotic for hoo-ha infections when they can't decide if it's yeast or bacterial.

Be sure to ask if the doctor did the HPV test, and mention that you had it some time back and just want to make sure that all is clear. If it was not done, ask that it be done. Be sure that when this is done that they fill out the paperwork for the insurance company correctly as a "follow up" test, and not just a plain old pap smear because most insurance companies will only pay for one pap smear a year because they are cheap sons of b*tches and don't think women's health is important.

They would include the HPV test with your pap smear, so you are probably fine. You probably had pre-cancerous cells, which sound very dangerous, yet only 5% of woman that have had pre-cancerous cells actually get cervical cancer. Don't worry~

Normally you don't have discharge if there are cancerous cells present. If you have milky discharge and itching, that's a run-of-the-mill yeast infection which is easily treated. Talk to your gyno anyhow and make sure you're both on the same page.
