Today I bought a Belkin Wireless G Router, number F5D7230-4, version 6002. The back of my cable modem has 2 possible ways to hook up a computer......... by USB or by ethernet. I found that my desktop pc is hooked up by USB cable. (I followed this USB cable to my pc, and found it is a typical flat USB cable) This computer does not have an ethernet port, so it has to be hooked up by one of its USB ports.
The Belkin instructions say to take whatever cable is running from my modem to my pc, and attach that cable to the router.
The problem is the router has only ports for ethernet, there are no ports that accept USB cables. So I can't plug this USB cable into my new Belkin router.

What do I do ?

Another alternative (if you are afraid to crack the case on PC to install the Ethernet card) is to get a USB to ethernet adapter for the PC...

This would plug in to your PC's USB port and give you an Ethernet via the USB...

You can then connect that Ethernet port to your new router!

These adapters can be found for about $20 or so...

Regular PCI Ethernet cards can be found for between $5-$20 or so...

you need to go to the store and purchase a network card for your computer. No other way around it. Also make sure you have enough network cable for the connections.
