Because the concept of a man having sexual relations with another man is just disgusting to them. Men that I know say that they just don't understand how it is a male can "excite" another. It's just abnormal. Doesn't have anything with "ego" or not being willing to "understand", or not being "comfortable in one's skin"...it's UNNATURAL plain and simple!

I am wondering if this is a cultural thing or perhaps a country-based thing.
Certainaly in the UK, most reasonably well adjusted guys couldn't really give a tinkers cuss whether someone down the street is gay str8 or bi. Why would they care at all?
Some folks (particualrly those how have issues with their OWN sexuality) lash out on the basis that if their mates sees them hit a gay guy - their friend will assume they must be str8.
I am a gay man, have more str8 friends than gay friends - and other than MANY years ago at school (immature / thick) have never really had a problem with homophobia.
Being 6'2" and being able to defend myself might also help to dissuade the gutless wonders having a go too I guess!
Must vary a great deal from place to place on the planet I guess.

For the same reason that so many women hate straight men. They will not give up.
I have gay friends that are not like that, but the average man only meets a gay man when the tried to "impose" themselves upon someone else. I understand being asked if I am interested, but after I say "no" one time, the discussion should be over.
BTW, I have had the displeasure to come across women like that too. Scared the hell out of me because everyone thought it was funny and no one seemed to realize that this person was stalking me, and my life could be in danger.
That, and the fact that so many people are narrow minded.

That's a sweeping generalization by the way. Not all straight men hate gay men. But the ones that do hate what they feel threatened by.

basically male ego! the male ego is a huge complicated mass that is very contradictionary in its nature. gay women are perfectly acceptable to them in a lewd manner that only anti gay men, men put over. they feel their manliness threatened by someone who is perfectly at ease and open about their preferences

Because of the way and environment in which they were brought up(not necessarilly because of their parents, but because of society) and they're probably scared that, by accepting homosexuality they will become gay themselves...

I have had two men in my life ask me if I wanted a BJ.
I said:"no thank you"
If your not comfortable in your own skin, you feel threatened by others(same thing goes with racial predjudice, I believe)

They are afraid others will think they, themselves are gay and less of a man. Those who are not gay think its gross. Think of deliverness.
