Politics can change, literally, overnight.
Granted, some of the damage that has been done will take a few generations to undo, but who's to say what the future holds.
But- he definately sent the US into a faster decline, both financially and internationally.

That's an excellent question, and one that probably won't be answered for years to come.
I think, with the right people in power, we can do much to repair the rifts between the US and the rest of the world, but we've shown our dark side to everyone. We won't be trusted or respected in the same way again. Everyone is painfully aware, now, that our goodwill toward them may be as short-lived as a presidential term, and that a significant portion of American citizens support an imperialist agenda.
If we can resolve the Iraq civil war/rebuilding issue in an honorable fashion, it will do much to calm the Middle East. Putting some distance between us and Israel would also help. However, those two problems are huge, and it may be well past the time when we could have effectively done anything to resolve them.
We're going down in history at this point as the country that waged a holy war against Muslims and prompted nuclear proliferation amongst marginal countries. It will take a sustained, concerted effort on our part to restore meaningful diplomatic relationships with countries that now view us as hostile, and a widespread realization among Americans that we are part of a global community. Our future position in the world, if we have any hope of maintaining our current stature, depends on our commitment to diplomacy, and our ability to play well with others.

You must be very young to ask this question.
The United States has survived some really tough years and came through in good shape. Have you ever heard of the Revolutionary or Civil Wars? Have you ever heard of the Great Depression? Perhaps you heard of World Wars I and II ? Vietnam?
One thing that keeps this country great is what we saw after 9/11, when the chips are down, we come together as a family and stand united. We can fight, bicker and slam each other all day until trouble hits, then we, like a family, "circle the wagons" and protect one another.
My biggest fear for the end of our "glory days" are if the Liberals ever take control of this government. It simply cannot happen.

I am sure that George Bush has changed America forever. Not a good thing but we will always be scared of a terrorist attack. Thanks to George Bush. We will be more reluctant to go to war, thanks to a war based on a lie from George Bush. That might be a good thing. I would hope that we are more suspicious of voting machines because of the stolen elections. But there can still be Glory days, it has happened before after the great depression. I could happen after this one.

Full and total recovery is impossible. It will take at least one generation before we can see how much damage was really done. And no matter how long it takes there will always be Bush supporters who will twist the truth to place blame on Clinton.
In fact even after Clinton dies, he will be blamed for failures with future repuke presidents.

Glory days gone? Last time I looked the economy was the strongest it had been in decades. Stocks are at their highest point in decades. Interest rates are low, the housing market is high. So, if you think it is so bad maybe you need to go live somewhere else so you can see that the grass isn't always greener somewhere else.
