NASCAR is the only reason for Sunday! Been a fan for years. You try to drive 500 miles at 200mph with 42 other drivers when the temperature in the car is 130 and see how tough you are! It's definitely a sport.

The point is the same as in every other sport. Why would anyone want to walk around hitting a little white ball in a hole? Golf lovers- don't you think? Driving 500 laps is a not so easy, check it out some time and find out. There are more race fans than you can imagine!

This form of sport is a competition. The race within a race is the brand of vehicles, what wins on Sunday sells on Monday.
The drivers with in the race are going for the championship, they are also attempting to get better rides and sponsorship.
Then there is the advetising, these become 200 mph billboards.
Ant the fact I've watched racing since 1960 i enjoy the sport.

Well i like to think of myself as a great driver who could handle a race car LOL but that's just an illusion ! Granted its not the most exciting form of motor racing but Nascar is tough on man and machine and its not just about driving, there's nerves of steel, tactics and much more goes into a race like that !!.

I love nascar! I never did till I met my husband but when we started going to races I was like WOW! this is great!! Its a lot of fun to get into the politics of it and see who's going to screw who this week. Like at Talladaga a couple weeks ago ... Vickers hit his own team mate (Johnson) just to win a race and guess what EVERYONE hates him now. Then you have Gordon who ALWAYS whines about what Dale Jr. did to him this week, when Gordon loses its Dale's fault. Nascar fans are TRUE!! Its not like football when everyone likes the team that's winning. Once you have a favorite driver that's it!!!! It doesn't matter if he hasn't won a race in years that's your driver!!! Thats what I call a true fan.

There is no other kind of racing. Look at all the other racers trying to get into NASCAR. It can't be just the money. They have more than they know what to do with as it is. The cars are bigger than the others and there are 43 of them all trying to get into the same space at the same time.

the length of the race brings in other situations that might not come into play on a short race.like car failure of any kind, driver failure, track conditions change in a race so often the team that wins at the end, is not the team that was the best at the start,so even nascar is a team sport.

I do, I do. It's all about competition. You can take any mundane activity that someone is going to find as boring as watching paint dry and inject competition and it's going to be entertaining. Anyone can drive 500 miles in a circle. Not everybody can do it with the car on the edge of spinning out at every turn with 42 other cars trying to do the same thing.

How boring, driving round in circles for 500 miles. I love most racing but this is usual American rubbish, they like to spend five hours sitting on their bums eating hot dogs.
