Steven Segal was on the Tonite show in the 1990`s and even challanged Vandamme. But no response from Vandamme!! Segal was in Special Forces CIA and was trained to kill. VanDamme would give him a hard time but if Segal got a hold of him it would be over!!! My buddy is a black belt and has taken on some big dudes alot bigger than him and he is built like Segal and I`ve never seen him loose one yet!! It`s know how and finding weak points to put them down!! I`d say Segal in this one!!

Van Damme would win for the simple fact that while both of them have aged and lost considerable speed, Van Damme would be wound up on cocaine, which would give him the neccessary boost to whip Segal.
But then Segal could call on his homies DMX and whatever other rappers he's been making movies with, and they would bust a cap in Van Damme's ***.
So, Van Damme would win, but Segal would get revenge.

Steven Segal would kick Jean-Claude VAn Dammes butt no doubt about it. Steven has studied the martial arts longer than Van Damme has. Van Damme would be bleeding and crying cause he got his butt wooped.

no doubt Van Damme.....he uses instant replay to turn one kick into 6 or 7 so the accumalitive effect is enough to take anybody.
But the question should be "Who makes you laugh more?"

I mean, cmon, multiple instant replay kicks, leaping 360 kicks, and 42 splits per movie.Those silly outfits. Pink shorts. Muscle shirts with the neck down to the nipples. Muscles from Brussels? Wham Bam Van Damme? Dont forget the accent and karate cries.

I put this question in the same category as questions like "Who is faster, Superman or The Flash?" A hypothetical quesion about fictional characters.
The two, you mention are both actors that practice the kind of martial arts specifically designed for films. This is not the same as "full contact" competition, and nothing, at all, like a real fight to finish.
But if we are going to "play, pretend," then I see Segal as a bruiser who's gone to seed, like a retired football lineman. He didn't look "pretty" in his heyday and he certainly doesn't look good, now. Van Damme has always kept in good physical trim. Since much of a REAL fight would involve ducking and defending against a damaging blow, I'd give odds to him to come out the survivor.
