what does "mono laser" mean?

A laserjet that does not print in color, but only prints in black/white. A good monochrome laser printer is the HP 1018.

People who do not print color documents are better off purchasing a mono laserprinter. Although a toner cartridge will cost around $70, you can print over 2000 pages with one cartridge as opposed to around 500 pages with a $25 ink cartridge on an inkjet printer. Thus the cost per page is cheaper on a mono laser jet than the more common inkjet.

It means it prints only in black and white. They had to start calling them that only color laser printers hit the retail market.
