Problems on both sides of the fence on this one.

Rush:
Shouldn't have did the whole "shake the body" thing. Was disrespectful and inappropriate.

Mike:
Stated that the opposing candidate wasn't for stem cell research. In reality, his opposing candidate wasn't for "embryo" stem cell research, but IS for stem cell research otherwise.

Rush is right. Fox is only interested in protecting liberal values. If he was serious about curing Parkinsons, he would put his money and efforts into research that was non-controversial, since then it could all be used for research, instead of having a huge portion used up lining the wallets of trial lawyers. And he is alienating half his potential doner base, who will not give money if it will be used in a manner that is contrary to their fundamental values. Sorry if I offend anyone, but I think that we are at a point in our society where neither side has any more room for compromise. We are down to the fundamentals, kids. Those on the right will never be able to accept killing human embryos for research, and those on the left will never be able to admit it is wrong, because to do so would automatically make abortion wrong also.

I lost respect for Limbaugh a long time ago. However, I have the utmost respect for Michael J Fox, its situations like this that make me wish that the people like Limbaugh, were the ones inflicted with the agonizing diseases such as the one Michael fights on a daily basis. I can't believe that he would even suggest that Michael was faking. I truly believe that anyone that has ever followed Michael and his career, would not have given Limbaughs comments a second thought. So Yeah, I AM WITH YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Boonietech, you do realize that the embryos that are used in this research are to be disposed of anyway. These are fetuses that are created in a lab for fertility clinics and will never be implanted.

The choice is NOT "kill a fetus fetus for research or let it live". The choice is "throw a fetus in the trash or use it to possibly find a cure to save the lives of others".

it seems to me that trying to cure fatal diseases is more "pro-life"than the other option.

I love Michael J. Fox. I have since I was way younger and had a huge crush on him. It kills me to see him on TV suffering so much from his disease. Although I don't agree with stem cell research, I do not believe that Rush should have spoken so poorly about Fox. He's not a doctor and doesn't have Parkinson's himself, so he has no clue what Michael is going through. I think that was foolish and insensitive for him to say!

I want to reiterate what jack b said. These are embryos that were created in a laboratory for implantation into the wombs of women who could not conceive otherwise. More embryos are created than can ever be used. So embryos are being destroyed every day in fertility labs. No one created embryos for the express purpose of using them for stem-cell research. Let me repeat for emphasis: These are embryos who would otherwise be DESTROYED if not used for stem-cell research.

They have both put their "spin" on what they want. The truth can only be found in education, and most Americans are to lazy to do that.
