The bank gave you money in good faith that you would pay it back, and if you don't, it will be reflected on your credit bureau everytime you try to get new credit. As for family, they also gave you money in good faith. There is nothing wrong with selling personal items to pay back those you have borrowed from. Besides, you do what needs to be done to keep a good relationship with your creditors and family. Next time try not to get into so much debt, if possible.

No I wouldn’t. Their personal items for a reason: their mine. I would just save up. Just let your family know it will take time to pay them back. As for the bank, you should get a steady income first. No sense of being broke because you owe money. I’m sure you have need (not wants) that you have to take care of first. Once those needs are met, then pay back. My sister lost her job and I let her borrow money. I knew it was going to take time to find another job, so I didn’t stress the situation. I didn’t want to make her feel like she had to pay me back by any means necessary.

I wish I could think of personal items people would be willing to purchase from me, or how to sell them. I actually thought about what I could sell but nothing came to mind, short of getting rid of our tv or computer, which really wouldnt bring in what they're worth to my sanity to have the free enterainment.

Yes, livin' it now. My husband and I sold our house to pay off debt. We're staying with my inlaws (in the finished basement) until we can move out again with a big hunk-a money saved.

I am actually disputing some charges to my checking account with the BOA. They told me to close my account, and I have a negative $570 balance. They said pay it and close the account. I said, I have disputed charges, I am not going to pay unless you take off the charges and the overdraft fees.
They said ok, believe it or not.

if its just stuff than sell it- like a plasma tv or nice furniture
you can get good stuff used or second hand- or just buy cheap stuff at walmart to replace it
however, do not sell things that have sentimental value like your wedding ring or sports collectibles because you will regret it
