Hi, I am a professional costumer If you have some thin rope, or some kind of rope like decoration from Christmas you can use that as a belt for your toga and to tie around the tie on your shoulder to make it look decorative. Gold would be perfect but anything fun you like will work. If not, how about some ribbon. You can put your hair up if it is long. Do a ponytail in the back up high and then curl pieces of it and use hairpins to pin them down around the top of your head. Leave the front loose with some strands to curl and either hairspray or pinup like the back and strands to curl and let hang by your ears. You can use dangly earrings. Gold is great or silver or whatever will match your belt best. A necklace would be great too if you have something with multiple strands or chains. If you have a few rings to match that would be good. You could draw with a marker or a eyeliner a fake band around your upper arm that coils like those gold snake armbands put that on the arm that doesnt have the shoulder tie. For shoes some kind of sandal would be great. You can even take some ribbon and tie it to the back of the sandal and criss cross wrap it up around your leg like old greek sandals with a bow at the top. alternately a low heel strappy sandal in gold or silver would be cool or any other color. For make up you could have fun and just do glamorous. Pink glossy lips, eyeliner, mascara and some blush and a little bit of eyeshadow.

Oh, goody! I can help. My mom is also going as a Greek goddess this Halloween and I've been helping her get ready. For makeup, stick to the basics- remember, "authentic" Greek goddesses probably didn't have really crazy makeup, in fact they probably weren't wearing any at all. Keep it neutral with a bronze/brown shadow, brown liner, two coats of regular mascara, a hint of a peachy blush (which works well on all skin tones), and lips in a caramel or brick-red shade, or just a neutral lip gloss with a lot of shine.
Some of the accessories I've picked up for my mom's costume are a wreath made of "gold" leaves, to be worn on her head like a crown, a really cool belt made of what is supposed to be authentic-looking old-fashioned coins (it is bronze and jingles when she walks- it said Roman belt on it, but probably not too many people know the subtle differences in these ancient civilizations, right?), and some flat bronze flip-flops with little decorations on the straps. She'll be wearing some nice gold earrings that I thought looked ancient-ish (dangly gold circles) and a necklace with a great big gold circle hanging down as a pendant. I tried to get her into a cool antique-looking bracelet from Claire's but she doesn't llike bracelets clanking into her wrist all the time. Also, we're dressing her boyfriend up in a toga with a matching head wreath and some flip flops to be a Greek god. He's a good accessory! : )

One year I was Athena. I did the makeup and the up-do. I also used glitter and especially around the eye area in conjuntion with the eye shadow. If you need to know how I made my $15 costume, write me. You buy the materials and it takes about three minutes to assemble. And you need the sandles that tie up the leg. I wore pumps but bought red ribbon and tied it around my calves sandle style. We were going dancing and I wanted my shimmery red pumps on. Have fun! I am going to go ahead and tell you how I made this costume. I went to a fabric store and bought about five-six yards of red shimmery material. That was my toga. I also bought a gold crown and wore that. I had a rope-style sash made of gold I bought in a fabric store, left it loose and let it fall around my hips after I tied a knot in it. No leaves in the crown. Men wore leaves, not women. The costume was great and inexpensive. Have fun!

Big - bambi-eyed eyelashes to make your eyes stand out. But choose either flush pinks or bronzes for you shadows, cheeks and lips.....and highlight cheekbones with pixie dust powder for some sheen. Keep your color scheme natural... don't go with bright blue eyeshadow...remember, you're a goddess!
Have Fun!
