I'm turning 13 today and we've been playing with each other every weekend for a year. I live in Houston and was planning to take them to Austin with me, but their father said no because he is not very sociable. They could've have at least emailed or called, right?

Oh by the way they knew when my birthday was because I talked to them a few days ago when my mom told them.

There are several possibilities. One thing you'll learn as you get older is old sayings out-live all of us. There is a reason for that - they are TRUE! There is an old saying, "Out of sight, out of mind!" This is one possibility: you are not there, so your friend is not thinking of you. Another could be something happen to them in their life and they simply forgot.

I would say you should take a close look at how you look at things. Why is your first thought they forgot? Maybe something happen and it wasn't as important (someone died, for example). Don't think of yourself first, think there could be a very good reason. Of course, if you find out there isn't a good reason, maybe you thought the friendship was more important than your friend did.

Happy Birthday!
Some people put no thought into things that might make you feel good because those kind of things are not important to them. It could be that the father made your friend feel like she/he could not do any thing so you got no answer.

Happy birthday to youuuuuuu!
The best way to avoid that happening again is to talk about your birthday coming up weeks ahead, and how excited you are. Remember that for your 14th birthday. Enjoy your day with your family. They are your best friends anyway.

well, have you told them when your birthday is? When it was your birthday before, did they call or e-mail?

If my best buds forgot my birthday, yes, i would be mad for few hours or days, but usually that doesnt happen cause i keep reminding them the day before!!! LOL
