Just quit cold turkey! Throw all your cigarettes and your lighter in the trash can. (Some people cheat and just hide them... this will get you nowhere.) Get yourself busy so you don't think about getting a smoke. Avoid hanging out with people who smoke, and also avoid all those places where people smoke, at least for a week. The first week (actually the 1st 3 days) are the hardest. Once you get past that, it gets easier as the days go by.
Oh, I almost forgot... Avoid drinking liquor, too, until such time that you're used to not smoking.
Good Luck!

First of all you want to quit, your part of the way there, second you have a reason and think you can do it, that's another part.
You tell yourself you want to stop and just stop. I did after 47 years. It's been five years now and I haven't thought about it, only the money spent, the heart condition it caused and helped along.
With gum, patches, etc, your still putting nicotine into your system. But, whatever it takes.

I switched to a brand that didn't taste as good... filterless lucky strike's are harsh. If they taste good to you, you'll keep smoking more likely than if they taste bad. Find a brand you don't like.
Also, I used negative reinforcement. I imagined a bad experience from my childhood and associated it with wanting a smoke. I will relate the bad experience. It's nasty. so don't read on if you don't want to use this imagery. So whenever I wanted to smoke I would remember when I was 11. My dog needed a bath. I put him in the tub with a few inches of water. I washed him and he still smelled. I noticed a kind of dredlock on him and cut it off. When I did, maggots spilled from my dog's back and covered the water in the tub. It was a horrible experience then, but it has proven to be a helpful stomach-turning tool in future when I tried to smoke and thought of that too.

First of all it is you that has to want to quit not your boyfriend. Making up your mind to quit for sure this time is the most important.I found that i would go to the store,[ force of habit ],go out side with others, [ force of habit ] and want to hold a pencil in my fingers, [like holding a smoke ] . It's not one habit to break but many. You can do it . GOOD LUCK !!
