Dear Known,

That is a very wise point and I definitely agree with you.
It took me a lot of years of living to understand that.

Religion is man made and there are nearly as many religions as there are individuals. Each person seems to add his own personal beliefs.

The awesome uncreated Creator is NOT interested in our religions because none of them even reach the ballpark in describing why we are here, what our heavenly Father wants from us in this life and what comes after this life.

Because we can't get it on our own He came in person to save us and to show us the Way, the TRUTH and the Light / Life.

God does not want anyone to be lost but He is righteous and can not look upon sin. Therefore all who accept Jesus Christ as their LORD and Savior will be saved as the Bible says.

Thank you very much for asking this question.

Meaning of Religion : An acknowledgement of our obligation to God : practical piety : devotion : any system of faith and worship.

God :The Supreme Being : a divinity : a deity.

Distinct ; Seperated by some mark ;not the same in number or kind ; seperate in place ; clear ; definite

As you can clearly see religion is a man made thing it is not something that just is , as you can also see by looking around you there are many types of religion , we are just able to choose which one we would like to be a part of , most do that by choosing what best meets their own personal needs . God on the other hand is a Supreme being , He is Not man made, He will be there even if all churches were not , and if all religions were not, I learned of God not in a church building but at home in the woods at least 10 miles from anywhere or anyone except my family and then i got out on my own and at that point had the right to believe or not believe , I chose to believe, and have never regreted it and that was 38 years ago. it takes alot to keep me interested so there is something to God infact there is alot to God , you dont have to go to a beautiful building to have church or worship all you have to do is go to God ! any way to answer your question I believe that God and Religion are different. I believe in the trinity the Father, The Son , and The Holy Ghost.

I agree. There is a definite, absolute, objective Truth that most religions either deny entirely or ignore. One may come to know the Truth through religion, but it's very hard because you have to see past all of the nonessentials and get right to the essence of Truth. I daresay religion keeps people from getting to the Truth because they just find an indefinite, personal, subjective truth and take that as the Truth.

God and religion are distinct in so far as I don't think any one religion has got it right.

Since the word "god" is meaningless, yet religion gives people meaning they are distinct.
God is just a confused term for "I don't know". I'll prove it. The word "God" fits in neatly into this other question. What is the square root of 275,994,356,328,874? God. So, if there is no God then all the "sacred" writings that have been attributed to "god" are mere creative inventions of a creature cursed with consciousness trying to understand itself and the world around it, while all the other animals of the world are just happy to Be...we think we exist to be happy....silly bald monkies. Yet, these writings have been ritualized and turned into religions which require participants to perform particular actions which then gives them satisfaction and happiness..

God and Religion are distinct... distinctly different. Belief in God is actually quite separate from Religion... Religion is almost its own entity.

I think religion is the attempt to name God, know God, love God, escape God, experience God, define God.

These attempts are always problematic, and never complete.

Sometimes that which we in the west name "God" doesn't quite fit the categories of the religious experiences of other cultures.

Religion and God are not the same thing, but are intertwined--not distinct.

this is quit interesting. not one person does not agree however their argument for the most part is god is the absolute yet religion is what tries to define the absolute. So if there was no religion there would be no ability to define God and something undefined is non existant until defined. quit paradoxical

Yes! I believe in God. I don't believe in 'religion'. In fact I don't have a clue what 'religion' is and i don't think I either need to know or want to.

Yes. God is the mystery, while religion is the invention of man to explain the mystery.
