When you are fertile, your cervix will be SHOW.
Soft
High
Open
Wet
Soft -
Normally your cervix will feel firm, kind of like the end of your nose. When you are fertile it will feel more soft, like your cheek.
High -
It will be higher up.harder to reach when you're fertile. Obviously this is comparitive to how it feels the rest of the month.
Open -
There is a little dimple in the middle of your cervix. This is the Os, or opening, of your cervix. Most of the time it feels like a little dimple. It'll feel more like a hole when you are fertile.
Wet -
When you are ovulating, you should have "egg white" cervical mucous. It will be clear and stretchy like egg whites.

Make sure your hands are clean and your nails aren't too long so you don't scratch yourself. Use your first and middle fingers and place them inside your vagina. You can feel your cervix on the tip of your fingers. Remove your fingers and look at the mucus that is on them. If it's clear and stretchy, like raw egg whites, then you are going to be ovulating within the next few days. This is the time you should be having sex.
If you are uncomfortable with putting your fingers in your vagina, then wait until after you have a bowel movement. Wipe your vagina and look at the mucus on the toilet tissue. I know it sounds gross, but pushing during a bowel movement will also push out cervical mucus.

You will know when you have cervical mucus, as you will find it in your pants, or on the tissue when you wipe yourself after a wee. It's commonly known as egg white cervical mucus (EWCM) because it's very stringly and looks like egg white! It's at this time that you're ovulating, so you should get jiggy with it from that day, and for the next 5 days to guarantee conception.
Good luck!

Well, I'm also a guy, but you have to put your finger inside your vagina up near your cervix to get any cervical mucous. Another way to TTC is to buy ovulator predictor kits at say Wal-Mart, or use Basal Body Temperature. Have to have a special thermometer for this but pretty accurate.

Please please please please do yourself a favour and buy 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility' by Toni Welsch. I am in exactly the same position as you and read this book last week, I am 34yrs and felt very stupid after realising I did not know or understand my body at all! I learnt more in this book in one week than I did at endless gp appointments, the first being that my gp told me ovulation is 14 days before menstruation, I now know every woman is different and this is simply not the case. It also has a step by step photo guide for checking cervical fluid, good luck!

Stringy, gooy stuff you get sometimes when you wipe. I'd never really noticed it was more at certain times until I heard about it when TTC. But it worked for me as a cue. (For me it's about 5-7 days after period)
Good luck

Look in your underwear... :) Seriously get the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" It explains everything.... if your cm is clear and stretchy that means you are ovulating.
