Adidas hardly qualifies. Name brands evolved from fashions carrying the designer's name. Levi Strauss (Levis), for one, in the 1800's. Worth gowns were the rage in Paris and England in the early 1800's. Chanel in the early 1900's which continues to be a name brand today.
