I work with someone who always complains about her life, she always has nothing good to say, things are always screwed up for her for whatever reason. I just want to tell her that she causes her own misery, but how do I do this without hurting her feelings?

Yeah, very negative person. Telling her she's a drama queen wont make her stop bitching. Just ignore it and maybe she'll stop. Or when she starts complaining, you can say something like "Ok, I have my own drama! I can't take anymore" but say it jokingly. Hopefully, she will get the hint.

I'd start by saying it in a joking manner. It's all about delivery. As most humor is based on truth, she is likely to take the comment better and analyze it more later.

show her how she acts and see what she says. Be a drama queen and see if she reacts the way you do. She may not realize that she is always pessimistic, and if you show her how she acts, she will want to change. No one likes to be a paryt pooper.
