this is a physics question. There are many variables you need to examine in order to determine the exact distance.
Angle the gun was fired from the ground
velocity of the bullet
height of the gun above the ground when it was fired
you need to determine the affect of gravity and wind resistance to compute the vector.
There might be more variables, this is all I can remember off the top of my head.

Good question and the myth busters show was very interesting. One of the things they did prove is that the bullet when it comes down because it tumbles does not go as fast as it did when it went up and should not injure a person when it comes down. Wind speed and size of the bullet and the power behind it were also factors that determine how high it went.

If ur tokin abt the local NDP 21 gun firing then there isn't even any bullet to talk abt cos they are blanks!! but if u fire a real bullet alot of factors come into play such as angle of projection, wind speed and but since firing at 45 degree gives the max dist travelled i'd guess maybe 25m for a normal pistol??

Good question, but like that other guy said it all depends on what type of bullet it was and further what kind of gun and what kind of barrel it had. Judging from most guns shot in the air at ceramonies it wont be a very big gun, other than that I have no clue.

It would not be anything less than 200 meter.
(How high the bullet goes would depend on the way the air is behaving at that time, and it would also depend on the type of gun used.)

Id imagine this would depend on the firearm and the bullet itself
