I have been off the patch for about 3 months and am now ready to try for a baby. I started a very light period on 10/1, only lasted about a day and a half and then started a heavier period on 10/18 that lasted 5 days. How can I keep track of when I will ovulate?

The best way to tell when you are going to ovulate is to start charting your tempurature every morning before you even get out of bed. Your tempurature will rise and stay elevated once you have ovulated. All though the time from the start of your cycle to the time you may ovulate can vary the time from ovulation to the time you start your cycle will remain the same.

There are a few ways you can track when you ovulate.

You can calculate ovulation from online ovulation calculators but this is ONLY if you ovulate 14 days before the first day of your next period and if your cycles are regular. Not everyone ovulates at this time or have very regular cycles. It really only gives a general view of when you might ovulate.

1) is to record and chart your basal body temperature Refer to link

2) Is checking and recording your cervical mucus

3) checking and recording your cervical changes

and

4) is threw Lh Surges (Luteinizing hormone) with ovulation kits.

Hope these help!

good luck from one TTC to another!

Typical ovulation happens days 10-17 of a normal cycle. Yours wasn't normal so you won't know how to count the days. Let's assume the 10/1 was a normal cycle, then 10/11-10/18 were the most likely days to have ovulated.
