I've never done it but one of my coworkers did. She bought a nice dress to wear to a play and dinner party, and then returned it to the store a few days later. It's very ghetto and I suppose it takes a person with no shame to do something like that.

A nice big 'accidental' wine stain on the front would fix her problem. Oh, you are clumsy! Then get a female family member to take her to the loo and get the dress off. Then you can find out the brand.

OR next time you hug her, feel for the label. Then a bit later, go up to her and tell her you've seen something crawl down into her dress and quick as a flash, remove the tag.

Otherwise, just photocopy her photo and take it to every dress shop in the area.

Having said that, store staff are not stupid and will recognise her after a few visits. Trust me. I know some good tales of weird customers ;-)

She is not borrowing the dress so she is stealing the use of the dress. She should be told by you or someone of character that this is serious business. It hurts the store owner who must sell the dress at a discount because she probably has stains on it. It results in every paying customer paying more for merchandise to cover the other business losses. No one wants to wear used clothing unless you by from a thrift shop.If she is so sure her actions are ok tell her you will take a poll at the next gathering and she has" borrowed" a dress. No business could survive on her patronage.Expose her for the cheap thief she is.When you need to give her a gift make sure it is used or damaged she won't mind based on her own behaviour.

That is the most GHETTO thing I have heard in a long time!!! I suggest you start buying a stash of either cat urine or deer urine and spill it on the dresses in question. There will be no way that a store would take it back smelling like that AND she can never wear it again!!! HAHAHAHA! People like that are just askin for that kind of karma!!!!

I'm guily of doing that. A lot of stores have a policy that they have to take back everything as long as the tags are on it and you have your receipt. However, there are stores that will not take back special event or evening attire just for that reason.
Leave the woman alone, we are all guilty of doing something wacky in our lives.

That judgment has to be left to the store because where I work we will not accept it if its been worn and we would know that by examining the item, so if she wears perfume they should smell it on the dress and know she has worn it. I don't know anybody that does what your Aunt does, but eventually she will get caught.....

Is it a crime? No! Some people don't care... cant change them as they see nothing wrong in what they are doing.

I know some such people myself, I have learned to live with that. I guess life is about choices, different people draw their line at different places.

I bet vegetarian people think me eating chicken is a bad thing.. so I let it go, can’t judge people with my rules so long as they are doing something legal. If I really feel they are doing something wrong I will report them, or try to change the law to make it illegal.

:) live and let live so long as it does not affect my wallet :)

I know some friends who do this...and think nothing about it.

Personally, I'm against it......its like stealing. If I like a dress enough to buy and wear to an event....then I like it enough to keep it and wear again somewhere else.

my guess is she's going to one of those off department stores like marshalls, tj maxx, ross etc. they never care about that sort of stuff. as long as it looks new and unused and has the price tag on it, then they will return it.

I did it once only becaue after I wore it I found it cheaper in another store. Doesn't she ever get deodorant stains on it?
