I moved in with my boyfriend and his roommate and unfortuantely they have not always been the cleanest men! Suprised? No! haha. Well I get on my hands and knees to clean the floor and it never seems clean because of the build up. It's all over in the tiny divits and such in my bathroom floor and the kitchen floor. I am curious what to do or use to clean it.!

I have just always used a good scrub brush and that cleans out each little divet.

Make a strong ammonia & water mixture & use a scrub brush to scrub those floors. When the floor is clean, mop it w/clean water to remove any remaining liquid. Finally, lay down a layer of Mop N Glo to put a nice gloss on the floor.

Also, pure ammonia left for several minutes will dissolve just about anything. USE RUBBER GLOVES & make sure it's well ventilated.

Personally, I like the scrub free scrubbing bubbles to clean build up. It's less likely to damage the grout. The bleach suggestion is good also - just be careful to thorougly rinse the bleach off and make sure there's plenty of ventilation. Vinegar (white) and hot water is a non-toxic cleaning solution that also works on grime.

Good luck.

I had this problem and I used a spray bleach cleaner and let it sit for about 10 minutes before I washed it. Most of it came off and I used a bleach pen and Magic Eraser to get the rest of it. Good luck!

A steam cleaner works wonders for this! It is about $50.00 and well worth it! The stream of steam will remove dirt from crevices. Also great for around the toilet, where boys seem to get most of their fluids.

I used to use hot water mix with lemon concentrate and little hand soap/shampoo then scrub with sponges. But steamer also useful because the key is grease or mold easy to clean with hot water/steam.

Bleach pens or bleach gel. I think you would need to do this by hand.

All the suggestions are good, but WARNING, if you use ammonia you better have really good ventilation, or it will burn your lungs.
