Saint Jonathan
However: St. Aelred of Rievaulx was a Cistercian monk, later abbot. He has a rather interesting background and conversion story which is easily found on the web in a number of places. He was a great writer and theologian. As a man, Aelred was someone of the deepest compassion of spirit and integrity in his walk. His feast day is 12 January. He was officially made (in 1985) the patron saint of integrity by the United Episcopal Church of America. Unofficially gay and lesbian Americans consider him the patron saint of the gay and lesbian community and the UECA is ok with that. Officially the Roman Catholic Church has given him no area of patronage perhaps because of the question of sexual-orientation issue. Unofficially the Roman Catholic Church sees him as the patron saint of friendship.
