It's always been when it gets dark but I guess that depends where you live because it might get dark too late (8ish). In New York, the kids start at around 6:30-7PM

The little guys start Trick or Treating around 6:00pm, after that most start coming as it gets dark outside.

Trick or treating starts when it gets dark, I am taking my daugther out around 5 and it normally stops around 8 so Maybe hopefully that will help.

Well where I come from (Ireland) it usually starts around 6.30pm. and goes on for about one hour. Every few minutes the doorbell goes and there outside are the little children dressed up in their Halloween outfits and all waiting for a few goodies to take home. I usually give them some sweets and lollipops.

Usually at dusk or just before for the tiny kids. We always cut the lights off at 9 - especially on a school night. Happy Halloween!!

depends how old the kids are. for very young children (5 and under) i'd say about 530 or 6. school age kids a little bit later. once it starts gettin dark out.

Usually about 6pm. It is dark enough for ghosts and goblins and the jack-o-lanterns can be seen with a candle in them.

In my town, here in Iowa, it goes from 6-8 P.M.

6- 7'ish around late noon but before it goes dark is safer.
