No they shouldn't. If the Government placed retrictions on personal borrowing there would be cries of outrage. Look at the reception identity cards received. Already the Government tries to micromanage people and their lives. It lies to the financial institutions to place sensible restrictions on the amount of personal borrowing linked to the ability to pay. Where the Government should place restrictions and penalties on personal borrowing is with the lenders - limiting the amount they can take in interest and impose punitive penalties if they breach such amounts

Too many people are snowed under with debt because it has become so easy to borrow large amounts of money.The trouble is that people see things that they want and they are determined to buy them even if they not able to afford it. Gone are the days when they saved up to buy things, we live in a "want it now " culture which results in many people becoming bankrupt.and getting a bad credit rating and ruining their lives.

defo should have restrictions...i mean i started getting into debt at 18yrs of age....out partying spending cash on lots of fab clothes u know how it is. i got 3 credit cards in 1 yr at the age of 18....store card the lot...at the time i didn't tell mum and dad. I'm 22 now and still have the overdraft the cards [maxed by the way]. point I'm making is, i feel NOW that i shouldn't have been given all that credit in the short time that i did...complete joke.

No. People should be responsible for their own actions. The idea of big brother telling everyone what to do and not to do is not congruent with my philosophy.

You want your Govt. to be your nanny!? No!!! Govt. should not place these restrictions as its interference in civic rights.
