I just use them for sorting out answers to my questions to choose the best answer. I find them a useful tool.

I have mixed emotions.
Sometimes thumbs downs are given when the answer is indeed factual and correct. That is a downside.
However, it is reassuring to see thumbs up next to your Q or A as well.

Thumbs down hides answers for Dragon that she doesn't like. She likes that part. And she likes giving people thumbs up because it's nice.

I like using the thumbs up, we get reported so many times, for and by whom, we'll never know, but I click "UP" for good question and answere

I like them. I like to see if others agree or disagree with me. (although, if I get too many thumbs down it kinda hurts my feelings or pisses me off)
