Driving from Sacramento to Corvallis via 101, any hot tips?

I'm from the Midwest, this will be a first for me, and just looking for any musts that I should try to do along the way, and things to be wary of as well.

If the weather is nice ...take the coast highway. You will find many beautiful spots. If foggy, take I-5, Mt Shasta is worth a look, Crater Lake to get off the route and to see.

The first thing you need to do is look at a map. If you are looking for a very long,but very scenic tour, you nave picked a good route. If you just want to get from Sacramento to Corvallis go north on I-5.
