Go to your "My Computer", right-click on the hard-drive icon (usually drive C:) and click properties. It will show you a graph of used and free space.

Be aware, though, that sometimes hard-drives are split into multiple drive letters (for example, drive D:). If this is your case, perform the above action on whatever other "Local Disk"s you may have.

An easy way is to open the defragmenter: Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disc Defragmenter. Tell it to scan your C Drive (your hard disk) and it will show you how much space there is in all, and how much of it is free. (While you're there, you should run the defrag if it says you should. Remember, it takes a while and you are better off not using other applications while it's running.)

If you want to find out hard disk space double click on my computer to open explorer view of my computer.. then right click on the drive you want to check and select properties... under the general tab you will see free space and used space... Cancel to exit.

If you would like to know how fast and how much ram right click on my computer and select properties.. under the general tab you will see processor speed and how much ram.
