Dear Solstice,
Please accept my sympathy for what you are presently encountering.
Let me assure you that it is NOT God doing the killing. He is there right beside you, offering comfort whether you are aware of it or not. It is the disease that is killing you, not God.
Please do not think about suicide. That will have eternal consequences (none of them good) which you can not even begin to understand right now.
Think instead about getting to know your heavenly Father right now. That will also have eternal consequences (all of them good). Check out The Father's Love Letter below.
Has your doctor told you it would be a slow painful death? Ask him to specify how he is going to treat you to alleviate as much pain as possible.
It may be hard to think of others at this time, so let me tell you about how absolutely wonderful it was for me to be with my dad when he died nearly 3 years ago. I am the 3rd of 6 children and we were / are scattered. My youngest brother was in Bosnia at the time but he was able to return for 2 weeks. 2003 was the first time all 6 of us were together since 1986. The day I arrived from CT and my youngest brother arrived seemed like it was going to be Dad's last day but he ended up living another 5 weeks and each of us was able to have time together as well as time alone with Dad.
I stayed at my parents' home during Dad's last 3 weeks and I used to help Mom in any way I could. Each day I gave Dad a massage and 1 day he said to Mom, "I sure am glad we can afford to keep her". To this day that is one of the very best things I've ever heard.
Please do not rob yourself, your family, or friends.
God bless you abundantly!

Couple of points first. The only truly terminal illness is not knowing God on a personal level. God is not killing you, it is your physical body that is dying. With that said, if your soul development has gone as far as it can in this life given the terminal condition of the body, there is nothing wrong with hastening your reunion with God.

You'll get a lot of debate about this. My feeling is if I'm a real burden to my family and nothing is being gained by my fighting, I would consider it. That decision would come hard, but I feel like those around me shouldn't have to suffer along with me and perhaps lose all they have worked for, just so I could stay "here" a little longer.

I think its normal to think about suicide if someone has a terminal illness espicially if they are going through alot of pain. But they should let God decide how long they will live. There is probably a reason he wants them here.

I was taught that "Thou shalt not kill" includes suicide, but we are only accountable for our thoughts and actions up to the point of losing sanity. I am still on the fence on this, honestly, because I just would not want to live in constant pain and sickness that would bring sadness to my kids. I do want to go to Heaven. Wouldn't a kind God understand?

I dont think so.My mother had lung cancer and kept requesting to be utinized.I could never have done that for her,bur I understood.I think if I had something terminal,I would not want to suffer, sometimes life alone is hard enough,I would most likely, end my life. And I would not feel at all guilty, and look forward to eternity.I hope you are not sick,in any way though.

I guess some terminally ill people will endure their pain while they wait on a miracle to save them, but they probably won't get it. If there is no doubt that your illness is terminal and all you have to look forward too is pain, suffering and death, then I'd definitely understand why someone would want to die now. I think its humane. I know I wouldn't want to live impotently while cancer devoured my body.

It isn't wrong and actually quite normal. Depending on the circumstance though, I think the family of this person would appreciate all the time they could have with this person before they go.
