If I have an appointment, I stick fairly rigidly to it. If I do not hear from the person I am meeting, I wait five minutes and leave. I am always fifteen minutes early for my appointments and always an hour early for flights at airports. I think that it is the height of bad manners to be late for anything and treat the person who is late with the contempt he/she deserves. I am not alone in this and that is why it is so important to be on time. If not, you will lose friends, fail interviews, miss trains and flights and altogether make a nuisance of yourself..................

Being on time reminds me, and lets others know, that I don't think I am the most important person in the scenario. It's basic respect I think. Have a good one!

Time is a valuable commodity. Being on time is respectful to the other person. Keeping another person waiting is disrespectful to the value of their time. It's important to keep our promises, no matter how small.

It isn't so much that it is important, but it is respectful. If you are late to something you have caused the person or persons or productions to be inconvenant. Anyone who has ever had a friend who is chronically late can understand the frustration. I just learned to tell her to be there a half hour before she really has to be.

If you have to ask that, you're an incredible jerk.
But the answer is because when you arrive late, you are essentially saying that you don't care about the other person's time and that you are more important than they are.
It's disrespectful and irresponsible.

Because in a limited lifespan, every second counts.
Nobody should waste off other people's lives by making them wait for no reason.
