What should I say to end it? What should I do to end it? Why does it matter then?

I had a best friend of over 5 years. We started growing apart because she was extremely immature, manipulative, and caused scenes in public all the time. One day, she finally pushed things to the edge by trying to turn my family and college friends against me because she liked me as more than a friend and I didn't feel the same. She caused so many problems. We had an enormous fight, and things ended--refuse to talk to her anymore.

My point is, phase it out gradually if you can (i.e. don't call or hang out as much, then eventually not at all). Definitely do it before things get too explosive though.

Well friendship can be just as sacred as a relationship and many people consider it just that but think why are you ending a friendship? Is it a burden to you? It seems as though you have made up your mind about it so here is what I suggest, tell this person that you seem to be moving in another direction then they are and the possibility that you will lose the friendship that you have now is a very big possibility. Tell them that your life will be different and your not sure how they will fit in it and I am sure it the same for you. Make sure to tell them if they need anything you will be there. Try to end things on a good note with no animosity and things should work out fine for you.

1] end your friendship before you start disliking one another

2] say what your heart feels but be tactful
