I think it's because people rush to answer...either that or they don't know how to spell

I think its down to a number of reasons:
1. People are trying to be the first to answer the question so that they can get 10 points and rush and then make typos.
2. People do not know how to spell.
3. People are lazy because it's just Yahoo answers after all and not an assignment or work.

Some have nothing better to do than sit all day to try and be the first to answer a question and will not take the time to check, or even answer correctly, they need our pity. As are those that are stuck in TeX mode and have forgotten how to log off, the rest are either just lazy or uneducated

People wanting to be the first to answer maybe, therefore rushing, or it could to be down to bad education. Who knows, but it's not just the answers, have you seen some the questions? One on earlier I could not understand it at all, bad spelling, no punctuation, p1ssed me right off!

Because everyone is trying to get their answers in first, in the hopes that they will be selected as the best answer. If you will notice, there are no spelling mistakes in this answer, which shows that I took time and care to properly prepare my response. I will get 2 points regardless.

I really don't know. I find my spelling doesn't even need a checker as I'm confident it'll be correct. Blame the badly educated who always played truant or the fact that satellite TV reduces the reliance on educational channels.
