Yes I believe it is. People are so afraid of offending others, that nothing gets done anymore. God forid you are white and you speak against illegal immigration. You are racist if you do. So due to this nothing is done about it.

PC began it's erosion of ones ability to speak freely in America about 10 years ago, at least that is when I noticed an increase in silence when I commented on the news of the day. It is now so stiffling in the workplace - especially government and those private company's with government contracts - that one can become targeted by management as potential "liability" and they will find a way to get you out or force you out. The right to free speech being "guaranteed" is meaningless unless one goes to court or gets the ear of someone in a watchdog agency. Problem is, watchdog agencies are managed by people who have come to believe that free speech has a narrow definition.
At any rate, one either succumbs to another or refuses to do so based upon values, morals and ethics and bravely faces the consequences. The latter is the only way one can get a good night's sleep every night.

It sure isn't helping. It's impossible to resolve issues when they can't even be discussed without worry that their very mention will send some sniveling crackpot into a tizzy.
However, PC is not the root problem. It is just a symptom of a society that has chosen to give greater weight to emotion and transient trends than to common sense and rational thought.

Yes political correctness is destroying our country people are afraid if they say what they want to that they will be fired or worse. The fact is we still have freedom of speech in this country so If I choose to voice an opinion and it makes me unpopular than you know what I can live with that if you don't want to hear what I have to say than don't listen.

Yes it is. It's gone to such extreems you can't observe and note the sky is blue without someone being "offended". You can't have a differing opinion anymore without someone being "offended" and pulling out some overused card out of the deck to label you.
