Stick with mining iron ores, you get more experience quicker than mining ess, and you can get paid more as well, it is easy to sell iron ores for 100+ gp each. I have several characters, one is a pure ranger with 40 range and can use her rune pick i think 41 mine, and a pure mage with over 40 mage and has 41 mine, and i have my main smither has 90 smith and 85 mine, I buy a lot of ores and bars and coal and natures (for superheating and high alcing the stuff that I smith) - I used to spend about 3-4million gp on that stuff weekly, but I've been training other stuff because mining runite in 46 wild is quite dangerous, I'll add you and talk in game. I can mine runite make rune skimitars - such good quick $! I have 5 extra rune pick axes (that i got as trades for rune skims i made) so when you get to level 41 mine I'll let you use one - they are worth 32000gp from the store and they help you mine faster. I tried to email you but it wouldn't let me. I can't get on until about 3.5 hours from now but i'll add you then
By the time i was 42 smith and could make steel kites, I had earned 3mil gp in profits, it is rather easy to do and with that much you will be a lot richer than what you indicate that you think is rich and can buy much more in game things.

to raise your mining and smithing level you must mine 30 rocks to raise to the second level and you must smith 30 pieces or make 30 equipments to raise to the next level

iam in the same situation, go to falador their is a staircase on the west of the trading lodge go down staircase, mine as much as u can, fire the ores in falador then go back and smith the ores u have
