I have many ideas that I would like to incorporate into quilts. Making the patterns by hand are very time consuming. If you know of a computer prog that helps you to create patterns, please let me know.

Electric Quilt is coming out with a new version, so wait a few weeks until you see EQ6 (instead of EQ5). I have EQ5, and it's fantabulous. You can create your own blocks, of course, but you can also use existing blocks to create your own quilt designs. (EQ6 will allow you to create your block by starting from an existing block - which will save a lot of work.) You may be familiar with Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns - there's a companion software called BlockBase that works with EQ so you can import all of those blocks as well.

The program is very easy to use, and has excellent instructions. It's easy enough for my mom, a non-computer user, and yet is robust enough for me. Check out the EQ website for more info. You can buy EQ5 online through Amazon (or Jo-Ann Fabrics), but it isn't showing EQ6 yet.

Electric Quilt. Software for your computer. It figures out patterns for you, yardage, the math for each amount of fabric required. Pretty Cool stuff.

there is a program called 2-D design and you can connect it to the sowing machine to make the patterns.
