Ah, you're acrophobic. It's a common and not unreasonable phobia. You're lucky you only have one! I've got three: herpetophobia (fear of lizards), brontophobia (fear of loud noises) and agoraphobia (fear of being outside).

I am absolutely terrified of lizards. If I see one, even and especially a dead one (a dead one can't run from me), my toes involuntarily curl under the rest of my feet, my skin starts crawling, I begin sweating and shaking uncontrollably and start hyperventilating. It's the most horrible feeling in the world and embarrassing, to boot.

Loud noises, such as thunder or sirens, cause me to either hit the ground or freeze. It can be humiliating, too, especially if I'm in a public place when a thunderstorm hits. At the first sound of thunder, I'm on the ground crawling under something and don't even realize it until someone asks, "What in the h*ll are you doing?!"

I'm not afraid of going outside, but I'm uncomfortable with it. I am content to stay in my house for days on end. I must go out from time to time. I don't like it at all and it gives me an uncomfortable feeling of exposure. It doesn't elicit the fear response of my first two phobias, but it's strong enough.

Never ever let anyone know what phobia you have, for by doing so, you give that person absolute power over you. Be it heights, spiders, snakes or whatever. I have seen it done............
