I have been a prosecutor for 18 years. I do not make the money that I could in private practice. However, being a prosecutor is one of the few, if not he only, job a s an attorney in which your obligation is to seek justice for society as a whole, not just an individual. I may be hungry on payday, but a good, clear conscious is worth the hunger. In my job as a prosecutor, I get to help the forgotten victims of crimes. how many books or movies have you read/seen that were written about hte victims and the torment they lived with. Few. How many books/movies have you read/seen about the criminals. Countless. Representing the victims of crime is a very fulfilling experience. I feel that I am making my little part of the world a little bit safer. Yeah, I think about making more money, but in the long run I would rather do some good for society instead of being like a hooker and getting people off for money.

Yes, there are people who have been wrongfully convicted. However, as a prosecutor, our ethical obligation, one I take very seriously, is to do our best not to prosecute someone who is innocent. It is better to let a hundred guilty people go free, than to convict one innocent person. But as a prosecutor, I realize this and keep it foremost in my mind before I file any case and as I am trying a case. Yes, during my investigatins, there hve been times when I did not believe a person comitted a crime, and I dropped all charges. That is why the job as a prosecutor fits me. I like to be the peoples champion and prosecute the guilty, and protect the innocent.

Interesting question. I'd definitely be a defense lawyer because the law states that a person is innocent until proven guilty. Historically, many people have been falsely accused of crimes they didn't commit, and have served prison terms or sentenced to death as a result. I would want to be one of the pioneers that prevents that sort of thing from happening. That's not saying there are no guilty people, of course, but if I believed in my heart that someone was innocent, I would do everything in my power to see that justice was served in that person's favor.

I have to admit, however, that I've always been a champion of the underdog, so maybe I wouldn't be best suited for that job. I'd be prejudiced in favor of my client, and probably wouldn't meet the requirements of objectivity.

I was a prosecutor because I believe in law and order; I was a defense attorney to make money.

I am proud to be a prosecutor because I have the opportunity to speak for victims of crime who otherwise wouldn't have a voice in the criminal system.
