Shakira is not Indian, she's Columbian!

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, South America to a Colombian mother, Nidia del Carmen Ripoll Torrado and an American born father of Lebanese descent, William Mebarak Chadid.
Her heritage is a mixture of Colombian, U.S., Lebanese, Italian, and Spanish. She is a true multicultural individual. She says of herself, “I am a blend of several cultures. Through my veins runs Spanish, Lebanese and Italian blood. All of this heritage is a strong influence on the character of my music."
