I have tried all the usual remedies, gel, crystals, pepper etc., but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Sometimes you may have problems with cats fouling your garden - particularly when new ones move in to the neighbourhood they may take a liking to a particular spot of the garden.

You can stop this happening humanely - there are either supersonic sensors you can use which emit a sound to put them off, or alternatively try one of the many safe chemical products that produce a smell that scares off the cat, but you won't find unpleasant. They are perfectly safe and non toxic, but will simply put the cat off!

Buy coffee which you put in a percolator - don't drink it but sprinkle it on the garden instead. I've thought about blowing some balloons up and burying them in the garden just under the soil BUT what if they explode AFTER the cat's 'done it's bit'? Got the giggles now imagining it!

I've answered this question before but here goes:

Used coffee grounds from your percolator or cafetiere sprinkled on the bare soil is the only thing I have found to work against cats. They don't like the bitter taste on their paws. It's always worth a try and it hasn't failed yet for anyone I know who has tried it.

Ace Hardware has a sprinkler with a motion sensor on it. You attach it to your hose and it senses movements and turns on for a few seconds sweeping the area with water like a machine gun. After a couple of weeks, they get the message. It is also good for people who walk their pets and allow them to use your yard as a restroom.

I use three of them. One for the yard, one for the fish pond, and a floater. I use it on my cats when I want them to stay out of someplace, neighbors' kids, and anything else that comes up. The others keep the squirrels from planting Pecans off my tree in my yard and raccoons and birds outta my fish pond and outta my fruit trees. All the animals complain about it but, you know, I told 'em to stay outta there. - yard rambo

(they are also good for Holloween)

after you plant next time lay some chicken wire down on the ground over your garden - the plants will grow up threw it and cats don't like the feel of the wire on there feet - works for me.
You can also do this with your flower plants

this may sound daft but plant some citrus smelling plants and peal some oranges and lemons and tie them in net type bags and place them at points of entry where the cats come in the garden
