I've stayed in Chi Town many times. One of the best hotels to stay is The Rivernorth Best Western on Ohio Street. Very nice place. walking distance and parking is FREE.

The Gold Coast is a wonderful place to stay....but pricy.
If price is a factor, you can always stay at a hotel by O'Hare and take public transportation downtown. You can get to every inch of the city on the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority), for a really reasonable price.

The Crowne Plaza Allerton on Michigan Avenue. The suites are killer. Also The Hotel Allegro. The rooms are decorated like Broadway shows....

The Sheraton Hotel, it's close to Navy Pier, Millennium Park, and Michigan Avenue, as well as many other places.
