I have been looking for an engagment ring for my BF for months. I finally found one that I just love. Its 14 karat gold band with diamonds. Its a beutiful ring and I have spent so much time trying to find the perfect one.
I am not very fimiliar with jewelry and it would be a nightmare if it turned out that 14K gold would turn his fingure green.
Could someone tell me if it would be a good investment or should I just keep looking.

14 K is good...jewellers generally don't go much higher carats in gold for men because the gold becomes softer and more malleable as it approaches 24 k...14 carats is good...it won't turn his finger green and it won't bend out of shape when he wears it...it may make your pocketbook a little less green LOL.....congrats.

Is 14 Karat Gold Good

14-karat gold is pretty much standard, for American jewelry. It's relatively tough, so if you bang your hand against something, you won't dent or scratch the ring as badly as you would, if it were 18-karat. I know someone with an 18-karat gold ring. The first day he wore it, he banged his hand against a door jamb, as he walked through the door. He's been terrified of wearing the ring on his finger, ever since. Now, he wears it on a chain, around his neck.

Don't worry about turning his finger green. That happens with gold-filled jewelry. Be sure your ring says "14-karat", and not "14-karat gold-filled".

Best wishes to you and yours.

14 is decent and respectable if that's what you are looking for. 24k - which is considered the best - is way to soft to be used as a wedding ring becuase it will get bent to easily.

The more important this is that you are obviously nuts about him, and about this ring, and you really think he will like it, and that is going to be a symbol of your love. CONGRATS!

Congrats!!

The best you can do is shop around. My wife and I bought our rings at Jared. We shopped around for over a month and Jared had the best quality and price. But that was in Chicago.
Best to keep with well known jeweler names and AVOID those horrid places in the malls! They are rip-off artists
