They lived together with regular people. There is a main female character who is a vampire hunter. She knows voodoo-goes to gravesites, she is in love with the main Vampire. There is also a werewolf guy, he loves her, she turns him down...
It is great- I think the author's first name is Laurel.

The books are called The Anita Blake Vampire hunter series, by Laurel K Hamilton.
I LOVE THEM!!!
She also has another series, called the Merry Gentry series, this one is based in the fay world.

That would be Laurell K. Hamilton's "Anita Blake" series. The first couple in the series are pretty good, but after a while they get just plain dirty, nothing but sex, no more good plots or character development.
Kim Harrison does much better with her "Rachel Morgan" series.

If you like those try the Dark Hunter series by Sherilynn Kenyon. I dont read romance but I was hooked when I read these. Great reading. I saw the answers from the others and given the description I think I will check out these books also. thanks for the question
