Tuna is fine to eat in moderation. Here's a good site of fish to eat or avoid: fn.cfs.purdue.edu/fish4health/Walletcard/walletcard.html
It's not just mercury that is a concern. Listerosis is as well. A lot of the boards don't mention the listerosis issue with fish but there you go!

Doctors say to stay away from tuna as much as possible, but a little bit, every now and then, is alright! I told my doctor that I was craving a tuna sandwich and she said that it was fine every now and then, just don't get carried away! The reason they tell us pregnant ladies to stay away from it is the elevated amount of Mercury in it, like you said.
Good luck and congrats!! :)

Yes, tuna is safe to eat, but only in small amounts, because of the mercury content.

Not more than 6 oz. a week...And the cheaper tuna has less mercury in it than the more costly tuna does. We can't eat anything safely these days...Maybe lime jello...

YES, YES, YES!!! Tuna is very good for you. It actually is LOW mercury. The kinds of mercury you have to look out for is the high mercury. Like Shark and other exotic fish like those. Your doctor can give you a list of which kind of fish are ok to eat. I do know that Trout, Tuna, Shrimp...they are all low mercury and very good for you and baby!
