In defense of PETA, which even I, an animal advocate, criticize because of their overly overt demonstrations, at least they have consideration for the humane treatment of animals -- God's creatures, just like you and me. Animals are not inanimate -- they feel pain and misery just like humans. They should not be subjected to torture in laboratories in the name of science. There are computerized methods of scientific research that do not involve hurting God's other creatures. How would you like to have caustic substances poured into your eyes, or other atrocities performed on your helpless body in the name of science? It's not done that way. Your thinking is that humans should be the guinea pigs, too and it would be all right, as long as it pertained to science.
As for Christian fundamentalists and their ideology, they may be simply opposed to abortions. Their right-to-life attitude has tunnel vision, because they are also supporters of capital punishment. Life is life, whether in the death house or in the womb, as I've stated before. But I don't see the similarity between fundies, as you put it, and PETA members. It's like comparing apples and oranges.
