After the warning (from the small red shield icon in the taskbar), I checked the firewall settings as well as the Internet Connection firewall settings in the control panel, all were firewalled. What is wrong?

well in this case It can be two things either your firewall is turned off or you have a rouge spyware.

Try this click start > run > type control and click OK > open security center > there would be an option on right saying " change the way security center alerts me " click on it > uncheck it for firewall, automatic updates and virus protection. > click OK. & close all windows.

Now as per windows settings it should not give you any alerts.

Now restart the computer. ( if you still get any alerts than its a rouge spyware )

If you dont get alert than probably your windows firewall is turned off :

Click start > control panel > open windows firewall > put a check on ON & click OK.

If you still get the alert then like I said its a rouge firewall.

In that case run this file it will help you with removal of rouge spyware & addware, its called smitrem.

Check this website for info on rouge spyware :

You should only be using one firewall as they may conflict.
