sarcasm is of course the lowest level of wit for half wits. It takes a full wit to understand it and 2 wits to create it...

Sarcasm that is designed to hurt or humiliate is low.
Sarcasm used humorously between friends is probably the highest form of wit. Some of the greatest minds ever, have used sarcasm to great effect. Try sarcasm in a search engine and see what I mean.

No. Sarcasm is hilarious and is a gift not shared by all. That old line about it being the lowest form of wit is just an excuse used by the poor misfortunes who can't do it.

Half wits don't understand sarcasm, let alone be able to use it! I find its difficult to have a conversation with anyone without the use of sarcasm nowadays - and television has certainly influenced this, with the funniest programmes being the ones that use the most sarcasm!

The funniest part of sarcasm is that the half wits don't get it, they miss it completely. My Father used to say..... Sarcasm, lower form of wit, higher form of intelligence.

A 'Wit' is someone who laughs at others - sarcasm maybe, but bystanders often feel embarrassed.

A 'Humorist' is someone who laughs at themselves and the bystanders laugh with them.

John Lennon was a 'Wit' and some people often found him quite intimidating and kept their distance.

Sarcasm isn't the lowest form of wit it's simply a form of wit.

it is the highest form of wit and intelligence. it is pointing out things that are wrong or not quite right AND making fun of it all at the same time. i love sarcasm. it is the only form of wit. it is objective humour and should be embraced by all, unfortunately there are people who are very slow on the uptake and therefore get very annoyed when they realise they are not as funny.

Small doses of sarcasm can be hilarious. The best sarcasm is delivered by fairly intelligent people, and usually only understood by the same.
