No smart answers like"2 MB is the diff"....
I need to know if the 5MB is a lot faster or just a little b/c the price is $20 diff......

Nope... both are well above the average broadband speed of 1.5mb. To really benefit from 5mb, you'd have to be frequently sending/receiving LARGE files via e-mail or direct file transfer.
And I don't mean P2P apps like Limewire and EDonkey, since your reception speed will be far less than even 3mb, limited by the other machine's connection to the network.
For normal use, the extra 2mb would go largely unnoticed, except when you pay the bill.

The real difference will be for uploads and downloads. Usually 3mb is adequate for a single home user of email and internet browser. If you download lots of music or video, your downloads with 5mb will be 60% faster
If you share the network with others...5mb may be wise to prevent network conflicts (slowness due to another downloading a lot)

For normal web browsing, some downloading, etc., stick with the 3MB and save some money. If you play online games 24/7 or download tons and tons of stuff, maybe go for the 5MB.

For web surfing, you won't see a difference. If you download something large, like a MP3, you can go up to 40% faster. If you play online games, you won't see a difference either.
I'd say, unless you do lots of downloading, don't bother.

I had a 1.5 connection and moved to 3m big diffrence for me because I down load big file daily but if you are just using it for basic internet connection you wont be able to tell the diffrence save your 20 bucks - just 1 mans opinion

Probably not worth the extra money in my opinion. Downloading is generally pretty fast. You are depending on where you are downloading from for your speed. If you get a higher upload speed, then it may be worth it. It all depends on what you are using it for.
