Two observations:

1) most old stamp collections are worth much less than their owners think they are. A stamp that sold for five cents fifty years ago is probably still worth five cents. But there are exceptions. The problem is that knowing which stamps are worth more takes some education. Either you'll have to educate yourself or pay for someone's time to evaluate what you have.

2) The very best information I have seen on this subject is at http://www.virtualstampclub.com/inherit.html - lots of solid good advice there. And, no, it's not my site.

Get yourself a reliable Australian stamp catalogue just for a reference to values ( work on about 2 thirds of the catalogue price ) and sell them on eBay starting with the minimum you wish to get

Try ebay. Although I would be interested to know what you have, and how much you want for it.
