Yes the blood blister comes off or disappears after the injury heals. Are you sure you don't need stitches or that your finger isn't broken, while we are at it? Since you said that "you smashed your finger real bad"? mermaid199

Usually the blood gets reabsorbed into the body. The skin may or may not flake off, once the area has healed.

yes always......just the top layer of skin, though it is pretty thick. If you let this happen naturally it will be almost healed when this skin comes off. Then it will not hurt.
