I had an older palomino mare in my younger days, she often had the same problem your colt seems to be having.
It did seem to be worse in the spring and summer months.
My vet explained to me that due to her almost white coat color (fading in the sun) it made the sunlight more of a glare on her (like us with no sunglasses)
And since her eyes are always close to the top parts of the grass....if any dust or debris flew into her (already sensitive) eyes, it would often just aggravate the problem.
My vet actually gave me a gallon jug of eye-drop flush to put in her eyes daily. Sorry cant remember the name of the stuff, it has been years ago.

Your colt may have an infection in his eye of allergies. Your colt may also just be developing wait a while and see if it goes away if it doesn't I would try putting a fly mask on him for a few days and if that doesn't work try clear eyes, it is a really good product!

it could be a number of things from infection to allergies or irritation from dust etc.... is there any inflamation in the eyes or lids.etc....have it checked out if it continues...why dont you know this if your a horse doctor....

maybe he has allergies. pets can have allergies too. maybe u should have a vet take a look at him. good luck
